    Herein, a thermally induced flexural vibration problem of inhomogeneous rectangular plates in which the material constants are given as a power of the coordinate in the thickness direction is considered. Assuming that the top surface of the plate uniformly receives cyclic heat supply and that the bottom surface is kept at zero temperature change, a problem of 1D heat conduction in an unsteady state in the inhomogeneous plate is analyzed theoretically. Analytical solutions of temperature change, deflection, and stresses in the plate with simply supported edges in which power exponents in the material constants are free from any constraints are derived. Performing numerical calculations, an effect of inhomogeneity in the specific heat capacity on amplitude and phase shift in temperature change inside of plate is clarified. To evaluate the influence of inhomogeneity in the material constants on the inertia effect in the thermoelastic response of the plate, amplification factors are defined as ratios of maximum amplitudes in dynamic solutions of deflection and stresses to those in quasistatic solutions. It is clarified that amplification factors in deflection and stresses of the plate are significantly affected by inhomogeneity in the Young's modulus of elasticity and the mass density.

    This paper presents a suitable technological solution to a problem of spray painting of high solar reflectance paint. We examine a new technology that enables to secure the safety of working at high altitudes, and to reduce the cost of heatshielding painting by introducing water washing/paint spraying robots. We describe an improved design for reducing mass and trial manufacture of the robot that moves and stands still on the rail around the tank and pulls a spray gun trigger. The mass of the robot is reduced from 13 kg to 8.9 kg by the present improved design. Carrying out the theoretical analysis of bending problem of rail for horizontal movement of the robot, we have considered the layout of the wheels and pinions in the horizontal movement of the robot so as to decrease the load of the motor.

    We aim to develop a low-cost solid sensible heat storage system for central power tower plants using mortar blocks for heat storage using ferronickel slag as a fine aggregate of mortar. We have examined to increase amount of heat storage of the block by heat transfer enhancement between the block and heated air. Increasing number of circular holes under the condition that heat capacity of the block remains constant, we have examined effect of surface areas of heated air flow paths on amount of heat storage of the block by performing heat storage test. As surface areas of heated air flow paths increase, not only amount of heat storage of the block but also pressure drop due to pipe friction increase. We have found that there is the number of circular holes to maximize amount of heat storage of the block.

    The purpose of this study is to examine the effectiveness of coating the barn roof with high solar reflectant paint called heat shielding paint as a measure against heat, and to establish the method to estimate thermal environment inside the barn using simulation software TRNSYS. Time transition of air temperature inside the barn where roof is coated with heat shielding paint has been predicted by simulation. Comparing the numerical result by simulation and the measured result by practical test, we have confirmed that it is possible to predict time transition of air temperature and daily maximum air temperature inside the barn.

    遮熱塗料を畜舎屋根に塗布すると、塗膜は太陽光を反射し、畜舎の温度上昇を抑える効果があります。著者らの共同研究の結果によれば、畜舎屋根への遮熱塗装によって畜舎の温度上昇は2~4℃抑えられることが実証されています。ただし、夏季の生乳生産量の改善に及ぼす畜舎屋根への遮熱塗装による効果は明らかになっていませんでした。そこで、畜舎屋根への遮熱塗装による乳量の季節変化を、ニューラルネットワークを用いたシミュレーションによって推定しました。その結果、畜舎屋根への遮熱塗装は、夏季の乳量減少を改善し、生乳生産性を向上させる効果があることがわかりました。
    ここでは、その研究成果について紹介します。

    傾斜機能材料(FGMs)や複合材料に代表される機能性不均質弾性体からなる柔軟構造物を対象として,本研究課題は外力や加熱による圧縮負荷を受ける場合の座屈,座屈後という非線形不安定挙動および,外力や加熱の周期的変化を受ける場合の熱誘起振動という動的応答の問題に関する数理解析に取り組もうとしたものである.そして,機能性不均質弾性体からなる種々の柔軟構造モデルの座屈や振動に及ぼす外力や加熱の条件,不均質材料特性および幾何学的形状等の影響を系統的に明らかにしている.
