    To evaluate the environmental safety of waste silicon solar panels as fine aggregate, JIS A 5011-1 leaching and content tests were conducted for cover glass (CG), wet specific gravity separation residue (WSGSR), which were separated from the waste solar panels, their mixture (waste panel aggregate, WPA), a simulation sample made from WPA and cement, and a cement paste sample made from only cement. Although Pb content in WSGSR was 1.5 times higher than the Environmentally Sound Quality Standards (ESQS) value for Content, Pb content in WPA met the ESQS for Content because of the dilution effect of mixing CG and WSGSR. Although Sb leaching concentration from CG was 1.1 times higher than the guideline value of the Environmental Quality Standards for Groundwater Pollution, Sb leaching concentration from WPA met the guideline. Because WPA met both ESQS for Content and Leachate, the simulation samples also met both standards. Therefore, based on the evaluation of both aggregate and simulation samples, it was concluded that the silicon solar panel waste used in this research could be used as fine aggregate in a manner that is environmentally safe.

    Coal bottom ash (CA) generated from the bottom of coal boilers contains soluble boron and the level of the concentration often exceeds the Soil Environmental Standard value for Boron. The relationship between boiler combustion conditions and soluble ions in CA were investigated to estimate the factors that cause fluctuations of boron contained in CA. The results showed that there was no significant relationship between the soluble boron and the combustion conditions of the boiler. It was found that the soluble boron in CA has a relationship with concentrations of calcium and sulfate measured by the leaching test. It was found that the saturation index values of gypsum in CA obtained by PHREEQC software with higher soluble boron was larger than that with lower soluble boron. This result indicates that the soluble boron in CA was embedded or adsorbed in gypsum and the variation of soluble boron would be influenced by the amount of gypsum in CA.

    To develop a one-dimensional leaching model of chloride ion from cement-solidified fly ash, a calculation area was divided into surface dissolution dominant area and diffusion dominant area, and surface dissolution model and a diffusion model were applied to each area. The model parameters were determined by tank leaching tests. By comparing the degree of agreement between experimental values of each fractional leaching amounts of chloride ion and calculated values by the developed model and conventional diffusion model, the applicability of the developed mode was evaluated. The developed model could express the leaching phenomena of chloride ion from cement-solidified fly ash. The thickness of surface dissolution area was estimated to be about 1 mm, and it was considered that the surface dissolution occurred at the shallow surface of the cement-solidified fly ash. The periods where the leaching amounts by surface dissolution was dominant to that by diffusion were by the first 2 hours of the beginning of tank leaching tests. The developed model could express the leaching phenomena better than diffusion model by two days after the beginning of leaching tests.

    Indonesian government has promoted to establish Community Based Waste Management (CBWM) in Indonesia to increase the resource recovery rate and to reduce the amount of landfilling waste in stead of conventional the waste management. In CBWM, recyclable materials are recovered by neighborhood communities and only the residual waste is landfilled. Although CBWM can contribute to the reduction of green house gas emission and conservation of resources, the effectiveness of CBWM on the reduction of waste is an clear due to a lack of detailed information about CBWM such as economic benefit, waste flow and its sustainability. The aims of this study are to identify the waste flow in common CBWM in Indonesia and to evaluate the effectiveness of CBWM for reduction of MSW carried to a landfill site. The TPS3R Dadaprejo Mandiri (DM-TPS) in Dadaprejo Village, Batu City, Indonesia was investigated as a case of CBWM. Waste composition was surveyed for 8 consecutive days on three separate occasions in 2021 and 2022. Each resource was weighed and measured at each step of the process to analyze waste flow. Monthly data summarizing the amount of each resource separated at DM-TPS was obtained from their records. Information about the amount of waste and resources collected by the 13 waste banks was obtained by interviewing the administrators of those waste banks. The amount of waste carried to DM-TPS during the first, second, and third surveys averaged 5.61, 6.65, and 5.40 t/day, respectively. Of the 9 categories of waste, the largest was the organic waste. Fruits and vegetables made up the largest percentage of resources followed by plastic bags. The average resource recovery rate was approximately 15.2%. However, the composition survey revealed that the potential resource recovery rate was approximately 39.5%. In order to increase of resource recovery rate, the corporation of households on simple source separation at home would be required.
