    An efficient optical power splitter constructed by a metal-dielectric-metal plasmonic waveguide with a resonator structure has been analyzed. The method of solution is the finite difference time domain (FD-TD) method with the piecewise linear recursive convolution (PLRC) method. The resonator structure consists of input/output waveguides and a narrow waveguide with a T-junction. The power splitter with the resonator structure is expressed by an equivalent transmission-line circuit. We can find that the transmittance and reflectance calculated by the FD-TD method and the equivalent circuit are matched when the difference in width between the input/output waveguides and the narrow waveguide is small. It is also shown that the transmission wavelength can be adjusted by changing the narrow waveguide lengths that satisfy the impedance matching condition in the equivalent circuit.

    An efficient bent waveguide and an optical power splitter with a resonator constructed by a metal-dielectric-metal plasmonic waveguide have been analyzed. The method of solution is the finite difference time domain (FD-TD) method with the piecewise linear recursive convolution (PLRC) method. The resonator can be realized by utilizing impedance mismatch at the connection between a narrow waveguide and an input/output waveguide. Numerical results for the bent waveguide show that transmission bands can be controlled by adjusting the length of the narrow waveguide. We have also shown that the optical power of the power splitter is entirely distributed into the output waveguide at the resonant wavelength and its distribution ratio can be controlled.

    In this manuscript, we numerically examined the dispersion characteristics of two designed microstructure fibers by using the plane wave expansion method. In the basic structure, air holes are arranged in a square lattice. In the first structure, the third ring in the cladding is formed by small diameter circular air-holes. In the second fiber, the third ring is formed by large diameter circular air-holes and in both fibers, the first ring around the germanium doped core is formed by elliptical air-holes filled with ethanol. By manipulating the third ring air-holes diameter, we obtained flat negative dispersion or dispersion compensation property. Additionally, we compared the dispersion diagrams of the small third ring air-holes diameter fiber with the large third ring air-holes diameter fiber.

    © 2019 IEEE. Nowadays, modern tablets are widely used in the contribution of universal access to education, equality in the exercise of teaching and learning, aiming for more efficient management and administration. The recognition of handwritten characters on these tablets become a necessary consequence in this technology age. The main challenging of handwritten character recognition is splitting each character of unrestricted handwritten scripts and there is no complete solution yet according to our knowledge. In this system, the combination of sliding windows, Region of Interest (ROI) box and Convolutional Neural Network (CNN) are used to execute implicit segmentation of handwritten characters. For performing the experiments, our own dataset is constructed by collecting handwritten data from 24 members of our laboratory using three different tablet PC models.

    2次元周期構造における反射・透過特性について、積分方程式を離散化したモーメント法により数値解析し、得られた結果を活用し電磁波素子設計への応用を目的としている。2次元周期構造を誘電体多層構造でモデル化する場合の適用範囲(周波数や物体の分布率など)を検証するため、先ず、2次元周期的構造に対する反射・透過特性についてモーメント法を用いて数値的に検討を行う。次に、モデル化で用いる有効誘電率の表現式について、有効性や適用範囲の検証を行う。さらに、電磁波素子を設計するための有用なデータ(例えば、反射・透過係数、近傍電磁界分布など)を数値的に検討する。具体的な電磁波素子として、周波数フィルタや偏波フィルタなどの電磁波フィルタを取り上げ、所望している特性を与える最適なパラメータ決めを行う。
