Background
The 25-Question Geriatric Locomotive Function Scale (GLFS-25) is one of the tests used to assess the risk of locomotive syndrome (LS). It is a comprehensive tool for measuring LS improvement after total hip arthroplasty (THA) and provides beneficial information for rehabilitation after THA. The primary objective of this study was to clarify LS improvement in patients with hip osteoarthritis (OA) who have undergone unilateral primary THA using GLFS-25. A secondary objective was to identify the impact of THA on each specific GLFS-25 item for optimizing functional recovery. -

Background
Understanding the gait pattern of patients eligible for total hip arthroplasty (THA) due to hip osteoarthritis (OA) offers valuable information for improving locomotive syndrome (LS). This study aims to measure the gait patterns of THA-eligible patients using an optical motion capture system and to analyze these patterns using principal component analysis (PCA). Additionally, this study examines the relationship between THA-induced gait patterns and LS. -

言語と寄生虫をめぐる意外な関係－太平洋を移動する先住民についての研究

台湾先住民とニュージーランドのマオリ族には，言語や文化の共通点がみられます。数字は酷似していて，顔にタトゥーを施すことも共通しています。装飾品で使われているしゃもじ型の翡翠は，マオリではPatuと，台湾先住民からはBatuと呼ばれています。これらの類似は偶然とは思えません。私の研究では，太平洋地域に拡散した寄生虫（蟯虫）の集団ゲノミクス解析によって，マオリのルーツと台湾先住民の関係を，言語学，人類学及び寄生虫学の観点から明らかにする予定です。今回は，文理３つの領域にまたがるこの研究の全体構想を，わかりやすくお伝えします。

本年度で2年目となる。初年度に実施したオンライン交流をベースとして、今後の展開を策定するための分析と提携校との調整を中心に研究を進めた。
１）海外提携大学との実施調整を行った。すでに交流を始めている台湾・国立成功大学、台湾・Mackay Medical Collegeとは引き続き交流を進める。インドネシア・ブラウィジャヤ大学とはスケジュールの都合により一端交流は休止することとした。２）昨年に引き続き、Moodle上に構築したライティング交流クラスMed Exchangeに新たな教材を作成するためMackay Medical Collegeの臨床教授、助教綬との打ち合わせを実施し方向性を共有した。３）英文エッセイの評価項目策定：学生の英文ライティングを評価するための項目を策定する。ライティングのスキルや精度の評価というよりは、むしろ医学生が自らの意識に向かい合うプセスを数値化できる評価尺度を目指した。Writing Assessmentand Evaluation Rubrics. Grade6 (McGrow Hill)などを参照しながら、フォームや文法の自己評価に加えることとした。４）ライティングデータを一部電子データ化しその結果をまとめた。５）参加者への事後インタビュー（オンライン）を実施し、システムの評価を行った。このプログラムの意図は、第一義的には異なる文化や価値観との「遭遇」と「交流」であり、その先に見えてくる自己の信念や価値観への気づきを促すことである。それをさらに深めるためにも、今後ライティングスキルの向上を目指した介入は必要であろう。 -
