理科学習において「問い（question）」はその後の学習過程を導く重要な役割を果たすものであり，学習者自らが問いを設定することが期待されている．科学的に探究可能な問いを設定する上では，はじめに目の前の現象から変数を見いだす思考操作が必要となる．しかしながら，これまで変数を見いだす力の評価はほとんど行われず，限られた先行事例においても妥当性の検討が十分に行われてこなかった．そこで本研究では，小学生の「変数を見いだす力」を測定することを目的とした，新たな評価問題を提案する．
