This study provides an overview of the current state of support for individuals with intellectual or mental disabilities after adolescence, including career education, transition support for employment, and support for long-term adjustment in the work environment. We discuss the current use of cognitive behavioral theory and various techniques. Furthermore, we discuss issues that need to be addressed are from what perspectives practice and research should be conducted for cognitive behavioral therapies to contribute and develop in this field in the future. As a result, it was clarified that cognitive behavioral theory contributes to educational interventions for vocational independence and assessments necessary for reasonable accommodation applied during transition period. Additionally, the usefulness of self-monitoring and contingency management has been suggested for long-term adaptation to the work environment. Finally, we discussed the need to develop cognitive behavioral interventions in career education and vocational support and to implement cognitive behavioral therapies practices appropriate for neurodevelopmental diversity.

The Japanese Association of Behavioral and Cognitive Therapies (JABCT) issued the Declaration of Action on Diversity & Inclusion at the 48th Annual Meeting in Miyazaki. Simultaneously, an action plan and implementation plan were also presented. This Declaration of Action stated that we respect diversity in terms of gender, generation, nationality, physical and mental individuality (disease/disability), sexual orientation, occupation, and career. We also declared that we would act based on three perspectives: “acceptance,” “resource utilization,” and “education and training.” Furthermore, we have clearly stated that we will engage in actions according to the Declaration of Action, monitor the status of its achievements, and review the Declaration of Action every five years. Henceforth, based on the action and implementation plans, we will work on the management of the JABCT so that members of the association can participate in JABCT’s activities with peace of mind. In addition, we must respect the diversity of people who require psychological support and work to provide and disseminate evidence-based Cognitive Behavioral Therapies. We must also confirm the status of our accomplishment in these actions.

The Japanese Association of Behavioral and Cognitive Therapies (JABCT) issued the Declaration on Diversity and Inclusion Promotion at the 47th Chiba Annual Conference on October 10, 2021, in the name of the director, president, and chairman of the Diversity Promotion Committee. We respect diversity in terms of gender, generation, nationality, physical and mental characteristics (disease/disability), sexual orientation, occupation and career. We aim to operate the society such that all members can participate and play an active role in society activities while demonstrating their individuality and abilities, such as promoting appointments and promoting the provision of opportunities for all members to participate in and interact with society. In addition, to fulfill the social responsibility of the JABCT, psychological support and information should be provided to those who need it and their related parties. We strive to provide easy-to-understand explanations based on attitudes and the best evidence-based psychological support, and promote activities to raise awareness about psychological support.

障害者の就労に関する様々な問題に対応するため特別支援学校等ではキャリア教育に取り組んでいるが、その効果や成果が十分には実証されていない。また、特別支援学校等でのキャリア教育は高等部での実践が多く、より早い学校段階からの系統性を持たせた実践に向けた教育課程の編成には至っていない現状がある。
そこで本研究は知的障害特別支援学校や小中学校の特別支援学級におけるキャリア教育について、小学部から高等部までの12年間、あるいは小中学校９年間を見通した一貫性のある教育課程を編成し、継続的なキャリア教育の実践を実現するために、調査研究や実践研究を行う。 -
