Retinal detachment (RD) is a serious ocular disease that can lead to permanent vision loss. In cases with fundus-obscuring vitreous hemorrhage (VH), it is difficult to detect RD even using ocular ultrasonography. We developed a convolutional neural network (CNN) based on the You Only Look Once version 5 (YOLOv5) architecture to detect RD and VH on B-scan ultrasound images. The model was trained using 2,188 images and validated using 1,042 images. We applied image enhancement techniques, including unsharp masking (UM), to improve the detection accuracy. The final model (Incorporating fivefold cross-validation along with previous techniques) achieved overall accuracies of 96.6%, 99.2%, and 98.0% for RD, VH, and RD with VH, respectively. Our deep-learning algorithm showed high accuracy in detecting RD and VH on ocular ultrasound images. In cases with fundus-obscuring VH, our deep-learning algorithm might be useful for detecting RD as a supportive tool on ocular ultrasound images.

In this study, a depth camera-based system is proposed to achieve non-contact, privacy-preserving action recognition using human skeleton recognition. Specifically, human regions are first extracted using bounding box (BB) detection, followed by action recognition based on Keypoint-based pose estimation. The estimated Keypoints capture detailed joint positions, and their structural relationships are modeled with a Graph Convolutional Network (GCN). Furthermore, a Transformer is employed to capture the temporal features of the skeletal data. This Keypoint-centric pipeline differentiates our approach from conventional, silhouette-level methods and significantly enhances the granularity of action recognition.

Accurate evaluation of lumbar loads stands as an essential requirement for both understanding lower back risks and injury prevention in occupational and clinical scenarios. This paper examines existing methods used to analyze lumbar burden while outlining their integration with modern human pose estimation algorithms. Precise measurements emerge from traditional methods like electromyography, finite element models, and wearable sensor systems yet their practical use faces challenges due to invasiveness, computational requirements, and placement sensitivity. Real-time human pose estimation has achieved advancements through methods like RTMPose, OpenPose and HRNet which offer non-invasive scalable solutions for real-time motion analysis. This paper reveals the advantages and shortcomings in both domains while identifying the value of integrating pose estimation frameworks with lumbar load analysis for better accuracy in real-world usage. The assessment reaches its conclusion by evaluating present roadblocks while suggesting future research agendas to combine motion tracking systems with biomechanical modeling frameworks.
