We have measured all deuteron analyzing powers A y d , A yy , A xx , A xz for deuteron-proton elastic scattering at 294 MeV/nucleon in order to study the properties of three nucleon forces (3 NFs). Measurement was made at in an angular range of θ c.m. = 35.6°-163.0°. Obtained data were compared with Faddeev calculations with and without the 3 NFs. At θ c.m. ≲ 120° all the data have general agreement with the calculations, while the measured data at θ c.m. ≳ 120° are not explained by any theoretical calculations. These results were consistent with those at 250 MeV/nucleon. © 2013 Springer-Verlag Wien.

Spectroscopy for neutron-rich nuclei 9 He and 12 Be has been performed by means of heavy-ion double charge exchange (HIDCX) ( 18 O, 18 Ne) reaction on stable target nuclei 9 Be and 12 C, respectively. Several clear peaks in 12 Be at low excitation energy region even above neutron separation energy have been observed in one-shot measurement, whereas no prominent signals of 9 He have been observed owing to the small cross section. It is shown that the HIDCX reaction is a new powerful spectroscopic tool for study of unstable neutron-rich nuclei. © 2013 Springer-Verlag Wien.

For the study of three nucleon force (3NF) effects in the intermediate energy region, the differential cross sections and the vector analyzing power A y were measured for the 2 H(p, n) inclusive breakup reaction at 170 MeV. The polarized proton beam of 170 MeV was injected to the deuterated polyethylene (CD 2 ) target and the energy of scattered neutrons were deduce by TOF method. The data was compared with the results of the Faddeev calculations with and without 3NFs. Concerning about the differential cross sections, we can see large discrepancies between the data and the calculations in the region where the energies of scattered neutrons are low, which are similar to the results of the 2 H(p, p) inclusive breakup reaction at 250 MeV. © 2013 Springer-Verlag Wien.

The vector analyzing power has been measured for the elastic scattering of neutron-rich 6 He from polarized protons at 71 MeV/nucleon. Two approaches based on local one-body potentials were applied to investigate the spin-orbit interaction between a proton and a 6 He nucleus. An optical model analysis revealed that the spin-orbit potential for 6 He is characterized by a shallow and long-ranged shape compared with the global systematics of stable nuclei. A semi-microscopic analysis with a α + n + n cluster folding model suggests that the inclusion of realistic interaction between a proton and the α core is important in describing the p- 6 He elastic scattering. © 2013 Springer-Verlag Wien.

Space Star (SS) anomalies in nd and pd breakup reactions below 20 MeV were reported since 1989, but their origin has not been found yet. We have considered two conditions for the SS anomalies: condition (a) where three outgoing nucleons form an equilateral triangle and condition (b) in which the triangle is perpendicular to the beam axis. The condition (b) was investigated by our previous systematic experiments on pd breakup. In the present study, we started systematic experiments for the condition (a). © 2013 Springer-Verlag Wien.

The anti-analog giant dipole resonance (AGDR) was separated from other excitations such as the spin-dipole resonance by multipole decomposition analysis of the 208Pb(→p,→n) reaction at a bombarding energy of Tp = 296MeV. The polarization transfer observables were found to be useful for carrying out this separation. The energy difference between the AGDR and the isobaric analog state (IAS)was determined to beΔE = 8.69 ± 0.36MeV,where the uncertainty includes both statistical and systematic contributions. Theoretical calculations using the proton-neutron relativistic quasi-particle random phase approximation predicted a strong correlation between ΔE and the neutron skin thickness ΔRpn. Under the assumption that the correlation predicted in this model is correct, the present ΔE value corresponds to a neutron skin thickness of ΔRpn = 0.216 ± 0.046 ± 0.015 fm, where the first and second uncertainties are the experimental and theoretical uncertainties, respectively. © 2013 The Author(s).

The alpha inelastic scattering from 24 Mg was measured to obtain the isoscalar natural-parity excitation strengths and to search for α-condensed states. Multipole decomposition analysis was performed for the measured cross sections, and the strength distributions for the ΔL = 0-3 transitions were successfully obtained. The decay particles from the excited states in 24 Mg were also measured in concidence with the inelastically scattered alpha particles. Candidates were found for α-condensed states around the 16 O core.

A complete set of analyzing powers for the dâ - d→3Hp reaction at the kinetic beam energy of 200 MeV has been measured in the full angular range in the c.m. frame. The observed signs of the tensor analyzing powers A yy , A xx , and A xz at forward and backward directions have clearly demonstrated the sensitivity to the ratio of the D- and S-wave components of the triton and deuteron, respectively. The new high-precision data are compared with the prediction of the relativistic multiple-scattering model by using standard wave functions of the three-nucleon bound state and of the deuteron. © 2013 American Physical Society.
