The effects of three-nucleon force (3NF) has been actively studied by using the nucleon-deuteron (Nd) scattering states. The differential cross sections of the elastic Nd scattering at the energy below 150 MeV can be well reproduced by incorporating 3NF in the Faddeev calculation based on modern nucleon-nucleon (NN) interactions. On the other hand, the differential cross sections of Nd elastic and inelastic scatterings at 250 MeV show large discrepancies between the data and the Faddeev calculations with 3NF. It indicates the presence of the missing features of the three nucleon system at this energy region. For the systematic study about the energy dependence of this large discrepancies, we measured the differential cross sections and the vector analyzing power A y for the 2 H(p, n) inclusive breakup reaction at 170 MeV. The experiment was carried out at RCNP by detecting scattered neutrons by using the neutron detector NPOL3. The data was compared with the results of the Faddeev calculations with and without the 3NF. © 2012 Springer-Verlag.

The alpha inelastic scattering from 24 Mg was measured to obtain the isoscalar natural-parity excitation strengths and to search for the α-condensed states. The multipole decomposition analysis for the measured cross sections was performed. The strength distributions for the ΔL = 0-3 were successfully obtained and the possible candidates for the α-condensed states around the 16 O core were found. © 2012 Springer-Verlag.

The vector A y and tensor analyzing powers A yy and A xx for dp-elastic scattering were measured at Tdlab=880 MeV over the c.m. angular range from 60° to 140° at the JINR Nuclotron. The data are compared with predictions of different theoretical models based on the use of nucleon-nucleon forces only. The observed discrepancies of the measured analyzing powers from the calculations require the consideration of additional mechanisms. © 2012 Elsevier B.V.

The double-differential cross sections for the 116Cd(p,n) and 116Sn(n,p) reactions were measured at 300 MeV for studying the nuclear matrix element of the 116Cd ββ decay. A multipole decomposition technique was applied to the spectra to extract the Gamow-Teller (GT) component. The integrated GT strengths up to an excitation energy of 30 MeV in the intermediate nucleus 116In are 40±6 and 11±1 in the (p,n) and (n,p) spectra, respectively, including the component from the isovector spin monopole (IVSM). The spectra are compared with those obtained from a theoretical calculation with a quasiparticle random phase approximation, where the contribution from the IVSM component as well as the interference effect between the GT and IVSM components are fully taken into account. © 2012 American Physical Society.

The results on the vector A y and tensor A yy, A xx and A xz analyzing powers of the dd → 3Hen and dd → Hp reactions obtained at intermediate energies at RARF(RIKEN, Japan) are presented. The high precision experimental data are compared with the theoretical calculation within the one nucleon exchange model by using standard 3He, 3H and deuteron wave functions. New polarimeter based on the asymmetry measurement in dp-elastic scattering has been constructed at internal target at Nuclotron (JINR). The result on the deuteron analyzing powers A y, A yy and A xx in the deuteron-proton (dp) elastic scattering at the energies of 880 and 2000 MeV are presented. The vector analyzing power has been measured for the elastic scattering of neutron-rich 6He from polarized protons at 71 MeV/nucleon making use of a newly constructed solid polarized proton target operated in a low magnetic field and at high temperature. Two approaches based on local one-body potentials were applied to investigate the spin-orbit interaction between a proton and a 6He nucleus. An optical model analysis revealed that the spin-orbit potential for 6He is characterized by a shallow and long-ranged shape compared with the global systematics of stable nuclei. A semimicroscopic analysis with an α+n+n cluster folding model suggests that the interaction between a proton and the α core is essentially important in describing the p+6He elastic scattering. The data are also compared with fully microscopic analyses using nonlocal optical potentials based on nucleon-nucleon g matrices. © 2011 American Physical Society.

We have developed a large, thin solid hydrogen target (SHT) that is 30 mm in diameter and 1 mm thick for elastic scattering of protons from unstable nuclei. By using para-H 2 that has a high thermal conductivity at low temperatures, we could prevent sublimation at the target center due to radiation from the higher temperature surroundings. The uniform SHT was used during long-term scattering experiments and it maintained its shape and thickness. © 2011 Elsevier B.V. All rights reserved.
