A kinematically complete measurement of the deuteron elastic break reaction has been carried out at E d = 140 MeV on 12 C, 40 Ca, 90 Zr, and 208 Pb targets in a wide angular range of θ p , θ n = 0° -8° for a detailed study of the reaction mechanism of loosely bound projectiles in kinematical regions of Coulomb-breakup dominance. A finite-range calculation of the post-form distorted-wave Born approximation is presented.

Precision data are presented for the break-up reaction, 2H (over(p, →), p p) n, within the framework of nuclear-force studies. The experiment was carried out at KVI using a polarized-proton beam of 190 MeV impinging on a liquid-deuterium target and by exploiting the detector, BINA. Some of the vector-analyzing powers are presented and compared with state-of-the-art Faddeev calculations including three-nucleon forces effect. Significant discrepancies between the data and theoretical predictions were observed for kinematical configurations which correspond to the 2H (over(p, →), 2He) n channel. These results are compared to the 2H (over(p, →), d) p reaction to test the isospin sensitivity of the present three-nucleon force models. The current modeling of two and three-nucleon forces is not sufficient to describe consistently polarization data for both isospin states. © 2010 Elsevier B.V. All rights reserved.

© Owned by the authors, published by EDP Sciences, 2010. The status and prospects of 2-nucleon and 3-nucleon short range correlations (SRCs) studies at Nuclotron-M (JINR) are presented. This program is focused on the investigations of the spin part of SRCs with polarized deuteron beam from new high intensity polarized deuterons ion source which is under development at JINR. The wide experimental program on the systematic studies of the polarization effects in dp-elastic scattering, dp-nonmesonic breakup, dd → 3Hen(3Hp) and d3He → p4He reactions sensitive to SRCs using both internal and extracted beam at Nuclotron-M is presented.

The double differential cross sections for the 116 Cd(p,n) and 116 Sn(n,p) reactions at 300 MeV have been measured over a wide excitation-energy region including Gamow-Teller (GT) giant resonance (GTGR) for studying GT transition strengths in the intermediate nucleus of the 116 Cd double-β decay, namely 116 In. A large amount of the strengths in the β + direction has been newly found in the energy region up to 30 MeV, which may imply that the GT strengths in the GTGR region contribute to the nuclear matrix element of the two-neutrino double-β decay. © 2009 American Institute of Physics.

We measured D(p, pp)n cross section at E p = 9.5 MeV and 13 MeV at off-plane star configurations, including the space star where the star is perpendicular to the beam axis. The experimental results were compared with recent pd breakup calculations using screened Coulomb force, and disagreement was found to smoothly vary with an inclination angle of the off-plane star, α. Further systematic experiments are necessary to investigate the star anomaly. © 2009 World Scientific Publishing Company.

The data on the vector Ay and tensor Ayy, A xx, Axz analyzing powers for the \overrightarrow dd \to 3\!\!Hp and \overrightarrow dd \to 3\!\!Hen reactions at Ed = 200 and 270 MeV are presented. The data demonstrate large values of analyzing powers and their strong variation versus the scattering angle. The observed negative sign of the tensor analyzing powers for these reactions at small angles clearly demonstrate the sensitivity to the D/S ratio of the 3H and 3He wave functions, respectively. The calculations performed within one-nucleon exchange model with the use of the standard three-nucleon bound state wave functions fail to reproduce the data on the tensor analyzing powers. © 2009 World Scientific Publishing Company.

A systematic study of three-nucleon force (3NF) effects in break-up reactions has been carried out at KVI at several energies. In this article, the p + d → p + p + n reaction with a polarized-proton beam of 190MeV will be discussed. The experiment was performed by exploiting a new detector called BINA. Some results for high-precision vector analyzing powers and differential cross sections are presented and compared with state-of-the-art Faddeev calculations with or without 3NF. © Springer-Verlag 2008.
